Walking around MU’s campus every day, I’ve noticed a lot of litter. Discarded flyers, cigarette butts, paper cups, gum wrappers, aluminum cans and more clutter the ground, not only hurting my eyes, but the planet as well. Am I the only one who is bothered by this?
Janet Moreland, spokeswoman for the MU Sustainability Office, was not aware of any groups looking to fight littering on campus, but said MU Landscape Services picks up litter. I couldn’t find any student organizations that campaign against littering. Do you know of any?
In an era when “going green” seems to be in, why are college students letting their campus get so dirty? Does MU need an anti-littering campaign to help cut down on all of this unsightly trash?
