While other law schools around the nation are seeing increases in the number of applicants, MU has seen less change. Tracy Gonzalez, assistant dean for admissions, career development and student services at the law school, reported MU as having a constant to slightly above average number of applicants this year. She also noted that the average number of applicants is between 900 and 1000 per year.
Lawschoolnumbers.com reported that MU received 875 applications in 2009. As the ABA article indicates, the expected reason for the nationwide increase in applicants is tougher economic times. People with higher-level degrees are more likely to find a job.
Additionally, here is a New York Times article addressing a decrease in racial diversity in law school admissions.
