The MU Faculty Council approved a new finals week schedule this week that moves Reading Day to a Thursday and starts exams on Friday.

UM System President Gary Forsee released a memo this morning to faculty and staff recommending changes to the benefits plan for full-time employees, and asking that 2010 salaries be kept at 2009 levels.
Forsee recommended an employee contribution plan be instituted “to preserve a critical benefit for our employees,” among other recommendations.

Apparently there are some exceptions to UM System President Gary Forsee’s hiring freeze.
MU Chancellor Brady Deaton says that about 50 positions will remain open, either because they are high priority positions or because people have already been hired for them. Research and grant- and contract-funded positions are also exempt.
